Stoke v Brighton, Gillingham v Sheffield United, and more: FA Cup third round – live | FA Cup

Key events

Full time: Coventry City 6-2 Oxford United

Mark Robins’ men have won by a tennis score, swatting aside their visitors from League One.

Full time: Millwall 2-3 Leicester City

Despite their late rally, Millwall are out. Leicester have beaten them by the odd goal in five at the Den.

Full time: Maidstone 1-0 Stevenage

Sound the giantkiller klaxon! The lowest ranked team left in the competition are through to the fourth round. National League South side Madistone have seen off their League One opponents Stevenage courtesy of a spot-kick from Sam Corne. Hats off to them!

Full time: AFC Wimbledon 1-3 Ipswich Town

Kieran McKenna’s impressive Championship side advance to the fourth round with a two-goal victory over their hosts from League Two at Plough Lane.

AFC Wimbledon 1-3 Ipswich Town: A Jack Taylor goal on 90 minutes gives Ipswich some wriggle room in South London.

Coventry City 6-2 Oxford United: Matt Godden scores his second goal in five minutes to hammer yet another sky blue nail into the lid of Oxford United’s FA Cup coffin.

Millwall 2-3 Leicester City: There’s late drama at the Den, where Zian Flemming has thrown Millwall a lifeline with his strike on 86 minutes. Can Leicester City close this one out?

Coventry City 5-2 Oxford United: Matt Godden adds a fifth for the Championship side to put the game well beyond Oxford United.

Coventry City 4-2 Oxford United: Coventry looks set fair to advance to the fourth round of a competition they famously won in 1987 with just six minutes of their game against Oxford United remaining. Joel Latibeaudaire, Ben Sheaf, Kasey Palmer and Callum O’Hare have got the goals for the home side, while Mark Harris and Tyler Goodhram have chipped in for the visitors from League One.

AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Ipswich Town: With 10 minutes remaining at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, a Josh Davison own goal and Axel Tuanzebe strike either side of Jake Reeves’ penalty mean Championship side Ipswich are on course to avoid embarrassment against the 1988 FA Cup winners. Wimbledon are down to 10 men, having lost Harry Pell to a red card just before the hour mark.

Maidstone 1-0 Stevenage: The lowest ranked side left in the competition, Maidstone would have hoped for more glamourous third round opposition than League One outfit Stevenage but they currently lead their more exalted opposition courtesy of a Sam Corne penalty that was scored just before half-time. There are 18 minutes left to play at the Gallagher Stadium in Kent.

Millwall 1-3 Leicester City: Leicester have restored their two-goal cushion ast the Den, where Tom Cannon has scored in the 61st minute. It’s the 21-year-old’s third goal in two games.

Sunderland 0-2 Newcastle: The second half has just kicked off at the Stadium of Light, where Sunderland have been completely outclassed but remain in the game at just … oh dear.

Almost straight from kick-off, an awful Pierre Ekwah mistake gifts possession to Miguel Almiron in the Sunderland penalty area. He pulls the ball into the path of Alexander Isak, who rifles it past Anthony Patterson just 32 seconds after the restart. Follow the action with Rob Smyth …

Millwall 1-2 Leicester City: Duncan Watmore has pulled a goal back for Millwall against Leicester in their game at the Den. The runaway Championship table-toppers had been two up through goals from Cesare Casadei and Ricardo Pereira.

VAR: Video Assistant Referee technology is being used during this weekend’s FA Cup third round … but only up to a point. Its deployment is restricted to matches being played in Premier League grounds, which means the majority of games will not be scrutinised by the curtain-twitchers at Stockley Park.

FA Cup third round: Saturday clockwatch

With 19 third round matches scheduled today, the pick of them got under way earlier this afternoon at the Stadium of Light, where the first Tyne-Wear derby since 2016 is being played at a ferocious lick in front of a baying capacity crowd including 6,000 Geordies. Newcastle are having the better of proceedings and lead courtesy of a Dan Ballard own goal in a game that is one of five early kick-offs. We’ll have 10 more to focus on at three o’clock.

Maidstone, Eastleigh, Chesterfield and Aldershot Town are the only remaining non-League representatives in the competition and three of them are in action this afternoon. From the National League South, Maidstone are currently a goal up against Stevenage, while Eastleigh from the division above travel to Newport County. Making up the trio, National League leaders Chesterfield will fancy their chances away at Watford. On a day full of potential upsets, we’ll bring you news of all the goals as they go in, all the major talking points and plenty of post-match reaction.
