Tether has announced the launch of a new payment option in the Philippines that allows citizens to pay social security contributions using their dollar-denominated stablecoin. USDT issuer and local Web3 company launch 1USDT Store online service.
In partnership with Uquid, Tether now allows Filipino citizens to make payments using USDT on the TON blockchain, according to the service’s release. In particular, citizens of the Philippines will be able to contribute to the Social Security System (SSS) using cryptocurrency.
The 1USDT Store service is available through the website and a bot in the Telegram messenger. The project is aimed at improving the experience of cryptocurrency micropayments and purchases.
The government social security program in the Philippines covers government employees and private sector workers. The program is designed to provide support to citizens in difficult times and has two main branches: social security and workers’ compensation.
